Why The Constitutional Compass

Daniel is the author of the Fake News Exposed books, but books take time. By the time a book is researched, written, edited and published, the stories it covers have often moved on, especially in today’s never-ending news cycle. He started his Substack publication so readers could get his legal analysis and his breakdowns of media misinformation on a far more timely basis.

Each story follows the same method. Daniel lays out the claim as it was reported, with links to the original coverage. Then he breaks it down, points out the weaknesses, omissions and errors, and links to the sources so readers can check the facts for themselves. His legal analysis covers the important legal issues and developments of the day, including voting rights, election challenges, free speech and the cases against President Trump and other public figures.

The weekly series Spin vs. Reality puts that method side by side: the headline on one side, the record on the other. He publishes at least one new story every week.

• Louisiana State Bar Association: served two terms in the House of Delegates, with service on the Medical-Legal Interprofessional Committee and the Bench-Bar Liaison Committee.

The author

Daniel wrote the Fake News Exposed about Trump series, Volumes One through Three, which examines more than 80 biased, misleading or outright untrue stories about President Donald J. Trump, his family, his businesses and his Administration, and sets the record straight on each one. His standalone book, Fake News Exposed (2023), takes on two dozen more media and government misinformation campaigns on subjects from immigration and gun control to COVID-19.

Published commentary and media

Daniel’s articles on legal issues and media misinformation have been published by The Daily Wire, The Blaze, American Greatness, American Thinker and The Stream. He is a frequent radio, television and podcast guest, with appearances including Salem News Channel, Stacy on the Right on SiriusXM, America First with Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Caravan to Midnight and Inside the Numbers with Richard Baris. He has explained, among other things, the Colorado ballot-disqualification case and the U.S. Supreme Court’s unanimous reversal, the presidential immunity litigation, Missouri v. Beyond the law

Daniel is a Free Speech advocate who is deeply concerned that the country is undermined by the suppression of free speech. He is a Second Amendment supporter and a life-long member of the National Rifle Association, and he served more than 10 years on Friends of NRA committees, which hold banquets to raise funds for the NRA Foundation, including two years as Chairman of the Friends of NRA Committee in Monroe, Louisiana.

He is a Christian, a hunter, a fisherman and a baseball fan. Married for more than 20 years, he is a father and grandfather, and he and his family live in Monroe, Louisiana.
